If you like adventure, nature and archaeological ruins, Jordan will certainly convince you. Indeed, the country is essentially composed of deserts, landscapes and breathtaking monuments.
Jordan is a small country located in the Middle East surrounded by two seas: the Dead Sea and the Red Sea. The geographical location of the country can easily put tourists off, yet this country is very secure and the locals are warm and welcoming. The exchange currency is the Jordanian dinar and the official language is Arabic. The capital of Jordan is Amman, a city where more than a third of the country’s population lives, as much of it is desert. The optimal period to visit this country is relatively wide: March, April, May, June, September, October and November. Temperatures can reach 45°C in the shade, so we don’t recommend going there in summer if you can’t stand the heat. To get there, you will have to fly for about 5 hours from Paris to Amman.

Jordan is home to the very famous archaeological site of Petra. This is actually the capital of the Nabataean people which dates back to around 300 BC. The site is made up of several monasteries and temples, the most famous and impressive is the Khazne, nicknamed the “Treasure” . To access the Treasury, you will have to go to the southwestern Jordanian desert, then walk a few kilometers through the Siq, a narrow canyon, and around a bend you will see the incredible temple formed in the pink sandstone cliffs . The spectacle is only more extraordinary at sunrise or sunset.
2. Float in the saltiest sea in the world
Jordan is bordered by the Dead Sea which is the saltiest natural lake in the world. This specificity makes it extremely easy to float in this water. In addition, many tourists go there for a beauty treatment, because the Dead Sea mud is very good for the skin. To benefit from its care, all you have to do is cover your body with it, let it dry and then bathe in the salty sea. On the other hand, never attempt to dive or put your head inside the Dead Sea.
3. Follow in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia
If you go to Jordan, you can venture into the Wadi Rum desert like Lawrence of Arabia. This lunar desert is incredible and the sunset is magical! To take full advantage of it, we advise you to sleep at least one night in one of the desert camps. There are different types of accommodation: simple tents for the more adventurous, more comfortable tents or even transparent bubbles to observe the stars. According to your desires, you can choose different activities: skiing on the sand dunes, camel ride, visit of the desert in 4×4…
4. Discover many sites rich in history
The Jordanian territory has many sites rich in stories of all kinds. For example, Jerash, located about 100 km north of the capital, is one of the best preserved Roman cities in the Middle East.
It is also in Jordan that Mount Nebo is located, places from which Moses would have seen the promised land according to the biblical story. Many pilgrims go there every year.
5. Snorkel in the Red Sea
In addition to the Dead Sea, Jordan is bordered by the Red Sea to the south, at Aqaba. This one has a normal salinity, which allows you to swim and dive there at your leisure. In addition to this, it is possible to observe corals and fish in this water. It is therefore an ideal destination for peaceful sunbathing and rest.
