Southeast of Genoa, on the Italian Rivera, is a small fishing village called Portofino. This one has become very famous thanks to its extraordinary charm and its special atmosphere. Located only a few kilometers from the famous villages of the Cinque Terre , it is an essential stopover during a trip to the coast of the Ligurian Sea in Italy. Here are the reasons to stop in Portofino and the activities not to be missed.

Eye-catching colors!

Just like the Cinque Terre, this Italian village is known for its beautiful pastel colors. These go together wonderfully and give an exceptional cachet to Portofino. Aside from the crazy charm of the buildings in this fishing village, its particularity is to be frequented by the Italian jet-set. Portofino is therefore no longer the peaceful little village it once was. But that in no way detracts from its authenticity and beauty. For a weekend or during your visit to the Ligurian coast, we advise you to spend some time in this village located just 200 kilometers from Nice.

Activities to enjoy the charm of the village

But what to do in this place that seems to be a little corner of paradise? You will certainly not have time to get bored during your stay in Portofino. Indeed, even if the prices of most activities are high, there are many alternatives to visit this beautiful place.

You will find as many land and sea activities to practice in this magnificent village. First, beautiful walks can be made in the alleys of Portofino, on the edge of its port, but also in the heights in a wilder environment. If your budget allows it, you can go to the shops in the main square, but also taste delicious local dishes. From a cultural point of view, you will find religious buildings to visit or simply observe. On the sea side, you can of course swim in the clear waters around Portofino. Also, we advise you to let yourself embark on a boat in order to admire the village from the open sea. If this city is appreciated by the Italian jet-set, it is particularly because it is very lively.

Portofino definitely has everything to please while retaining all its charm despite the tourism that has been very present there for several years. However, if you want to avoid the crowds, it is best to go there outside the summer period. Indeed, the alleys being rather narrow, they can very quickly become crowded.
